Upon Arrival

The following is a list of important to-do items that new ND Postdoctoral Scholars must or should do during their first few days at the University of Notre Dame.

Check-in Meetings

□   Check in with your department and faculty mentor

□   INTERNATIONAL POSTDOCS: Check in with the International Student and Scholar Affairs Office

Bank Account

□   Set up a bank account

Human Resources

□   Complete New Hire paperwork

□   Obtain ND Employee Identification Card

□   Activate your NetID and Password

□   Access your email

□   Complete payroll information on insideND website

□   Complete Section Two Form I-9

□   Review employee benefit information

Spousal ID Information

Spouses of current, regular, postdoctoral scholars are eligible for a Spousal ID Card. Card privileges include: library privileges, use of athletic facilities as outlined by the Department of Athletics; Notre Dame Bookstore and Golf Course greens fee discounts; Domer Dollars; and free admission to regular season play for men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. Spousal ID cards may be obtained at the Office of Human Resources, 200 Grace Hall, during regular business hours. (Marriage certificate and picture ID must be presented on-site). There is a fee, payable by debit or credit card only, for the Spousal ID. Click here for more information including current fee.

Interpreter Services

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs has a list of current Postdoctoral Scholars on campus willing to assist you with interpretation if necessary. These Postdocs will accompany you to Human Resources to complete your employment forms and to the International Student and Scholar Affairs Office for visa check-in as needed.  To request the service of a volunteer interpreter please contact the Postdoc Office prior to arrival at postdoc@nd.edu.
