Provost's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
Notre Dame 2033: A Strategic Framework includes a commitment to investing in people, including increasing the number of postdoctoral fellows across the University.
As part of that commitment, the Office of the Provost, the Graduate School, and the Colleges of Science, Engineering, and Arts & Letters launched a pilot program in spring 2025. The Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellowships program is a University-wide initiative to support highly motivated and accomplished researchers who are committed to Notre Dame’s mission to be a powerful force for good in the world.
These prestigious fellowships are designed to attract exceptional early-stage scholars seeking to advance their careers in an interdisciplinary academic environment at a leading global Catholic research university. Applicants with plans to investigate problems relevant to the framework and the University-wide strategic initiatives are especially welcome.
The pilot program funds up to 18 two-year postdoctoral scholar appointments annually — six each in Science, Engineering, and Arts & Letters. Fellowships are appointed at the college level and supported institutionally for 24 months, with a renewal at 12 months. They include a generous stipend and research allowance.
Provost’s postdoctoral fellows recruited and selected by each college will partner with research mentors in their chosen discipline and will benefit from personal and professional development programming and cohort-building opportunities at both the college and University level. The Graduate School and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs work closely with the directors of postdoctoral studies in each of the colleges to coordinate these activities.
