Arrival on Campus

Every non-faculty research appointee should first check-in with their department upon arriving on campus.  Some appointment types must also arrange to check-in with the ISSA Office and/or the Postdoc Office.

Domestic Appointments

Research Visitors, Visiting Scholars, Research Associates and Sr. Research Associates – Check in with Department Only.

Postdoctoral Research Associates, Teaching Scholars, Externally Funded Postdocs and PT Postdocs – Check in with Department AND Postdoc Office.

*Postdoc Office check-in - All Postdocs, Teaching Scholars, Externally Funded & PT Postdocs will receive an email prior to their arrival on-campus setting their appointment with the Postdoc Office.

International Appointments

Research Visitors, Visiting Scholars, Research Associates and Sr. Research Associates – on B1, H1B, WB or OPT Status – Check in with Department Only.

Postdoctoral Research Associates, Teaching Scholars, Externally Funded Postdocs and PT Postdocs – B1, H1B, WB or OPT Status - Check in with Department AND Postdoc Office.

*Postdoc Office check-in - All Postdocs, Teaching Scholars, Externally Funded & PT Postdocs will receive an email prior to their arrival on-campus setting their appointment with the Postdoc Office

All J1 Scholars, regardless of appointment type must also check-in with the International Student and Scholar Affairs Office. This check-in is MANDATORY.

Contact the ISSA Office to set up an appointment for the check-in meeting. Please bring a copy of your visa page and entry stamp (or I-94 card if given) and your current DS-2020.

Note: If your family is joining you, you should also bring a copy of the visa page and entry stamp for each dependent.

Orientation

New full-time Postdocs, Teaching Scholars, Externally Funded and PT Postdocs will receive an email from Human Resources prior to, or shortly after arriving on campus, registering them for HR Orientation.  Mentors will also receive a copy of this registration so that they are aware of the dates and times Orientation is taking place. Orientation for these appointment types is mandatory. Orientation registration for all other appointment types - follow department guidelines.
